Vitamin D Test in Karachi

A 25-hydroxy vitamin D blood test measures the main circulating form of vitamin D and may be requested when a doctor suspects deficiency or is monitoring treatment.

What does the test measure?

Most vitamin D blood tests measure 25-hydroxyvitamin D, also written as 25(OH)D. It helps assess whether vitamin D levels are low, adequate or unusually high.

Why may a doctor request it?

  • Possible vitamin D deficiency, bone symptoms or muscle weakness.
  • Conditions that affect nutrient absorption, kidneys or liver.
  • Monitoring vitamin D supplementation when medically indicated.

Preparation and supplements

The CCL directory lists no fasting requirement. Tell your doctor and CCL about medicines, vitamins and supplements because these may affect results. Routine testing is not necessary for everyone; a doctor can advise whether the test is appropriate.
